Italian Senior Open
From 20 to 23 October 2016, the Golf Club Udine was the location for the Italian Senior Open, a stage of the European Senior Tour, the most important European circuit. Before the event, President Gabriele Lualdi said: “It is a great honour for us to be chosen as the Italian stage of the European Senior Tour. Our course has undergone some important changes in the last few years. For the Italian Senior Open it will be more technically demanding and the new championship starting points will be used for the first time. We are very much looking forward, also thanks to the assigned jackpot, to hosting famous golfers aged 50 and over, and a large audience who will be able to follow their champions on the field.” The event was won by the Welshman Stephen Dodd, followed by Philipp Price and Magnus P. Atlevi. Many international players were supported and followed by an international audience. The success of the event has confirmed Golf Club Udine as a championship course suitable for hosting international contests. For that reason, from 15 to 17 June 2018 it will host the Italian Senior Open for the third time.
